Alice Springs

Yesterday was fixit day, for some reason the freezer dropped in temperature so I found a repairer to look at it, turns out nothing with the freezer so I have set up an alternative cable from the battery hope this fixes the problem. Also some of the stitching in the tent gave way so my sewing skills where used to do a temporary fix. Other than the usual washing a relaxing day.

Alice Springs

We decided to put in another big day of driving, 708km to Alice Springs, we will stay put until Sunday when we head up the Tanami, it was only reopened yesterday due to the rain that stopped us coming over the Plenty. The first caravan park was fully booked so we are at the Stuart Caravan Park, looks ok in the dark. Just going to relax for a few days and stock up for the trip to Broome.

Barkley Homestead -Northern Terratory

Changed plans due to rain, drove in rain most of the day to Barkley, stayed here on the last trip and it has not changed, filling with Diesel tomorrow will dint the bank @ 199.9 cents / litre. Hopefully we have driven out of the rain. Seeing we have now driven this stretch of the Barkley I'll have to find another way to Lawnhill Gorge on our way home, cannot drive on the same road on the same trip. Chris's baby blanket knitting for the twins is getting bigger.

Cooper Creek

Hi We left Cunnamalla 9am big day of driving. Had lunch at Quilpie long start narrow roads lots of dead kangaroos on the side. Emus lots ,eagles, wild goats , and wild pigs seen today. Camped for the night on Cooper creek, fish for dinner see photo lots of fun meeting lots of different people.

Boulia

Staying in the Boulia caravan park tonight alongside the
Burke River. Possible rain from Alice so we will have to check the Plenty road conditions before heading off.

Windorah to Boulia

Windorah to Boulia  it took us 7 hrs of driving on mostly dirt roads no cars for 4hrs flat flat and flat. Losts of eagles again kangaroos and cows and brumbys. Changing countryside as can be seen from the photo's.

Change of plans

Well only 4 days into the trip and our first change, 10mm of rain last night closed the Plenty Hwy so it was either wait 2-3 days for it to open our go via Mt Isa, Mt Isa won so a about a 800km detour. Much to  Barrie's disappointment  as he was really looking forward to that part of the trip. Shane still has one up on him, looks like another trip to the centre to do the Plenty. Driving to Mt Isa in the rain.
