Horizontal Falls
Monday - What a fantastic experience to fly in and stay overnight was unbelievable , the power of the falls is incredible. To take the overnight tour is the best, you get to go to the falls twice when you arrive and once the next morning, they have shark feeding plus they take you up "the creek" to their wet season morning where they have set up a viewing platform where they show you Bat fish feeding. The food is good and the company was great.
Gibb River Road Adventure
Well today we head off on what the whole trip is about, up the Gibb River road through the Kimberley's. This part of the trip will take us about 4 weeks to complete taking in, Winjana Gorge NP, Tunnel Creek, Bell Gorge, Mornington Wilderness Park, Mitchell Falls, Home Valley Station, El Questro Wilderness Park and the Bungle Bungles. Due to the "Great" coverage OPTUS provides we are not sure when we will be able to update the blog but we will still do a daily update and download it when we have coverage. The weather is forecast for the low 30's beats your winter weather.
Derby
Monday - restock day today before we head up on our overnight stay at the Horizontal Falls, really looking forward to it.

Derby
Sunday - Packed up and set off for Derby, the dirt roads where still a bit slippery and wet in places but not as bad as yesterday. The sun is out and hopefully like that for the rest of the trip. We passed the Prison Boab tree on our way into Derby, there's history behind it. Catching up on washing and resupplying for the next 4 weeks, heading on the Horizontal Falls overnight trip tomorrow. No car wash in Derby, good business opportunity here and in Broome.
The Prado needs a wash
This is the condition of the Prado after our venture out from Middle Lagoon, hopefully the water has subsided a bit this morning before we head out with the trailer. Note that the front number plate is missing, someone will find it when the road dries out and it'll become their trophy, also the stopper on the aerial is gone, that's from trying to drive as far to the left and get some high ground but you collect branches on the way. Hopefully Derby has a car wash.
Last day at Middle Lagoon
Well it didn't start off as the last day, but they opened the road at 12 o'clock so we decided to stick to the plan an leave for Derby tomorrow. It started off with us deciding to drive to the Whale-song cafe, Cape Leveque and the Cygnet Bay Pearl farm, the road out from Middle Lagoon was still bad with long stretchers of deep water, I cannot put down Chris expletives but they where good, we finally made the tar and drove to Cape Leveque and the pearl farm, what a great day we had. The Whale-song cafe is just 10km from Middle Lagoon, an oasis in the middle of nowhere, the family has been there for 13 years and the cafe open for 4 years. They have 4 children who go to Beagle Bay school each day. Lunch at the pearl farm and then an interesting tour of the farm, where Chris bought a beautiful pearl. It was then bak to Middle Lagoon where the water on the road had dropped a little but Chris expletives where just as good. Before we left I lent a fellow camper my generator to top up his batteries and when we got back we had to watch the sun set with a glass of red, the only one we saw due to the rain and what a way to finish our stay at Middle Lagoon.
Middle Lagoon
Friday, It continued to rain overnight so not sure how long the road will be closed back to Derby, some people left for Cape Leveque this morning and they didn't return so we are assuming they got out to the tar road that leads to the Cape, the council tarred it a couple of years back so the locals can get around in the wet season. The sun and wind are are up so we have dried everything out and tidied up, also got the solar panels out to charge all the batteries. The tides are incredible such a variance in height, and these are not the big tides they get. Look at the difference in the photo's. Just heard that they are not going to reassess the opening of the Cape road until Monday so we will try tomorrow to move our Horizontal Falls trip to a later date, not worth the risk of going on the road when it is closed as there is a $3000 fine.
