Ord River Dam & Argyle Station Homestead Museum

Saturday 6th - today we went driving, firstly to the Ord Dam which was opened in 1972, you can drive across the dam wall and down to a picnic area on the other side which is adjacent to the river. From there we went to the Argyle House museum, it is the original house that was on Argyle Station and was moved piece by piece to its current location, reconstruction started in 1972 and was completed in 1976. All the headstones from the original property where relocated to the current location, Mary and Elizabeth Durrack where buried there in 1994 and 2000 respectively, Mary Durrack wrote "Kings in Grass Castles". We have decided to cut our stay short by one day and move on as there is nothing more to see and we can use the extra day somewhere else.
